  • What is Indian Book Bank?

    It is a bank of books.
    Any person can donate the books and any needy student who can not afford the books cane loan the avaialbel book.

  • How it is started?

    During the annual home cleaning activities before the Diwali festival, I stumbled upon my engineering books laying inside a cupboard.
    I was about to sell off those valuable books suddenly, with grace of GOD, I thought that why not I donate these books to someone needy who can not afford such heavy priced books. But from where can find such needy student?
    To provide a platform for this noble exchange, idea of Book Bank bloomed.

  • Who owns it?

    Although this idea was blossomed in my mind but it is not owned by me. It is just soul of an idea. We have to give it body so that it can function.

  • How it works?

    Any person who has used/spare/unsolicited/unwanted study books which are no more useful to him/her can donate such books to this Book Bank.

    Book bank organise them and published the catalogue of donated books on this portal(

    Any student who comes from economical weaker section and can not afford such valuable books, can loan from the book bank.

  • Where it is located?

    The Indian book bank is currently working from my residence. The address of (you can say main branch) is:

  • Working hours of the bank?

    Being a working professional, I do not have time on weekdays so the Indian Book bank works only on weekend (i.e. Saturday and Sunday) Timing are 10:00 AM to 4 PM.

  • Who can donate books?

    Any person can donate the books.

  • Which type of books can be donated?

    Any study books, be it text books / helping books/ reference books for undergraduate or above standard can be donated.

  • Do I donate books for school children?

    Sorry but Book Bank do not accept the books for school student as text books for these standard are mostly provided free of cost to needy students by government itself. Hence it is requested to donate books for undergraduate and above standards.

  • How can I donate the books?

    You can donate the books by sending them at our location:
    Indian Book Bank, 1/5370, Street No. 14, Balbir Nagar Extn. Shahdara, Delhi – 110032
    By hand or through post. Please mention your full name, email address along with books.

  • Do you send the receipt of the donated books?

    Indian Book Bank will send you a thank you email for your contribution after receiving the books. And your name will be published on our portal under contributor’s list.


  • Who can take books on loan?

    Any student of undergraduate or above courses belongs to economical weaker section and can not afford buying these books, can take books on loan.

  • Eligibility criteria for taking books on loan?

    Eligibility criteria is as under:

    • 1. Must be student of undergraduate or above courses
    • 2. Must belongs to Economical weaker section of society
    • 3. Must be of good character

  • How do I establish that I belongs to EWS category??

    Please bring a letter of recommendation cum character certificate from institutional head in which student is studying stating that the student belongs to economical weaker section of society and can not afford to buy books.

  • I have taken books from Bank, Do I need to return them?

    Yes. The returned books can be helpful for other students similar to you.
